Module 08 / Interface study

Filling and packaging handoff

A filler has product, package and downstream handling constraints. Its instantaneous cycle rate differs from accepted packages across a shift. Package size, rejects, stops and changeover alter the relationship between liquid demand and good output.

Incoming material or information

Product in the agreed preservation state and within filler inlet limits.

Required output

Accepted filled packages; rejected packs and unused product are separate.

Rate boundary

Keep packs/h separate from feed L/h unless the actual accepted fill quantity and all relevant losses are known. State the observation period.

Stop coordination

Record whether the filler is starved, internally stopped or blocked downstream. Link event time to product inventory and upstream status.

Cleaning and maintenance boundary

Include product path, filling contact parts and any required package/closure hygiene boundary. Validate recipe/changeover management for the actual route.

Utilities and installation

Product, electrical, pneumatic and any route-specific cleaning/conditioning services.
