Brush Roller Washing Machine

An open washing bed combines parallel brush rollers with overhead water sprays. It gives incoming produce a defined cleaning path before inspection and size reduction.

Roll, spray and discharge

Use this configuration where contact brushing suits the incoming fruit. Surface condition and skin sensitivity matter: delicate berries and easily bruised fruit need a different washing assessment. A brush washer should not be treated as an immersion or bubble-washing machine.

Inside the working arrangement

The roller bed supports and turns the produce while spray water wets the exposed surfaces. Rotation brings different faces into contact with the brushes; solids and wash water leave below the working bed. The open arrangement gives operators access to the brushes and spray nozzles after isolation.

Connections and material paths

Set the receiving conveyor and discharge level together. A continuous feed should cover the working bed without piling fruit above the effective brushing zone. Drainage, debris collection and any recirculation filtration belong in the wash-water scope, separate from the product transfer.

Cleaning and maintenance access

Isolate the drives before reaching the roller bed. Remove trapped stems and stones, inspect brush wear and clear blocked spray nozzles. Wash the exposed frame and under-bed collection area; this open machine is cleaned by access and wash-down, not by a closed product CIP circuit.

Details that change the configuration

Can the same washer handle every fruit?

No single brush contact suits every skin and ripeness condition. A produce sample establishes whether brushing removes soil without unacceptable damage.

Does the washer also sort fruit?

Inspection and rejection can be arranged on the adjoining conveyor. Sorting is a separate duty from the brush bed itself.
